This collaborative project with the Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese (ACOM) and the Graphic Design program at the School of Art of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville worked to understand the difficulties that the Marshallese population faces in the Northwest Arkansas region. This project spanned primary research through communication and interviews, collaborative ideation and revision, and feedback from the local Marshallese community.

I partnered with Kali Davis to work from an educational perspective: how do we share information and resources for accessing higher education and entering the workforce, as well as create approachable avenues for the Marshallese population to reach out.

We believed high school upperclassmen and early college students could influence how the rest of the Northwest Arkansas community develops with the Marshallese population considered.

Throughout our work, we interviewed Marshallese students, counselors, educators, and local businesses to create personas for the student and for the mentor/teacher figure; an affinity diagram detailing the concerns and values of Marshallese students; a task analysis of when in the transition period we focused design artifacts; and verbal and visual audits collected from interviews and site visits.
